About Ag Challenge

The new office!

Ag Challenge began as a small farm training programme on the Director’s property in 1984 and has now progressed to three sites along No 3 Line and Kaimatira Road, Whanganui. Ag Challenge is now a leading provider in tertiary education and covers a wide range of courses.

Ag Challenge Staff

The experienced staff at Ag Challenge have industry qualifications and programmes are designed with the aim of up-skilling students for employment in the field of their choice.

Training Facilities

Ag Challenge Main Office – 312 No 3 Line, Whanganui

Carpentry Base – 364 No 3 Line, Whanganui
Agricultural Base – 108 Kaimatira Road, Whanganui

At these two sites we have our training farm, several classrooms and a carpentry workshop.

Animal Care and Veterinary Nursing Assistant– 35 Somme Parade Whanganui

This is the only NZQA accredited programme operating from a Veterinary clinic in New Zealand.

Working with Secondary Schools – Gateway, Dual Pathway’s and STAR Programmes

Ag Challenge run Carpentry, Agriculture and Animal Care STARs, Gateway and Dual Pathway programmes in conjunction with the regions schools. Students that complete Unit Standards at this level receive an excellent head start towards gaining a New Zealand Certificate in the field of their choice and can continue on with one of our full time programmes. Ag Challenge are always happy to hear from schools that wish to set up STARs, Gateway or Dual Pathway programmes and any students that are interested should visit their school’s careers officer to see if programmes are available.

Student Support Services

Reading, writing and mathematical assistance is always available and students are well supported to help achieve success. All programmes assist students to develop soft employments skills to assist gaining employment.

Theory notes are given out at each class and can be kept for future reference. CV’s are also prepared for all students.

Ag Challenge aims to develop skills and educate people for employment. When you train with us towards a nationally recognised qualification, you take a step towards a brighter future.
